Schaumburg Home Additions

Schaumburg's housing story begins in 1959, when builder Alfred Campanelli broke ground on Weathersfield near Schaumburg and Springinsguth Roads. That development grew through more than twenty phases into roughly a fifth of the village's housing, starting with the "W" section, where ranch models carried New England names on streets like Warwick and Winthrop. Those mid-century ranches and split-levels, plus later subdivisions such as Sheffield Park and townhome communities like Nantucket Cove, are the homes we remodel most: compact kitchens opened to the family room, hall baths rebuilt, basements finished, and additions that give a one-story Campanelli house real breathing room. Utility work is refreshingly simple here — Schaumburg has been on Lake Michigan water since 1988, and the village's 2025 inventory found zero lead service lines. With District 54 schools and the Milwaukee District West Metra station beside Wintrust Field, GS Construction remodels kitchens, baths, basements, and whole homes throughout Schaumburg.

We also take on plenty of projects in Timbercrest, where Mor-Well Builders mixed ranches, raised ranches, split-levels, and two-story plans from the mid-1960s onward, in the 1960s single-family blocks of Lexington Fields Estates, and among the late-1970s and '80s coach homes of Lexington Village. One pocket plays by different rules: the Olde Schaumburg Centre overlay district around the Schaumburg and Roselle Road intersection, established in 1978 to preserve what began in the 1840s as the farming settlement of Sarah's Grove. Exterior projects there go through the village's OSC design review before final approval from the Village Board, so we build that step into the schedule from day one. Village-wide, Schaumburg requires every contractor to hold a village-issued business license before a permit can be released — out-of-town firms carry a dedicated license, while plumbers and roofers show state credentials instead — and basement, bathroom, and kitchen alterations each get a formal plan review with detailed drawings and a written scope of work, paperwork we prepare as a matter of course.
