How We Work

The GS process, step by step

Every GS Construction remodel follows the same owner-led process: a free in-home estimate, an itemized written scope, permits handled by us, an owner-supervised build you can track in a live client portal, and a final walkthrough backed by a written warranty. Most kitchen remodels take 6–10 weeks and most bathrooms 3–5 weeks, with a written schedule before work begins.

  1. 1

    Free in-home estimate

    Week 0

Greg or Patryk — the owners, not a salesperson — walk your space, talk through what you want, and take real measurements. You get honest feedback on what your budget buys, grounded in the project ranges we publish openly.

  2. 2

    Itemized scope & contract

    Within days of the visit

Your proposal is an itemized scope — labor, materials, demolition, disposal, line by line — not a single mystery number. Payment terms and warranty coverage are spelled out in the written contract. No surprise charges on the final invoice.

  3. 3

    Design & selections, your way

    Parallel with permits

Bring your own designer or architect, use our design-build help, or be your own designer — we send you to trusted showrooms and install what you choose. Selections are scheduled ahead of the build so lead times never stall the site.

  4. 4

    Permits & scheduling

Typically 1–2 weeks in most suburbs

We pull and manage building, plumbing, and electrical permits with your village — Arlington Heights, Palatine, Winnetka, Schaumburg, and every town we serve — and hand you a written schedule before demo day.

  5. 5

    The build, owner-supervised daily

    Kitchens 6–10 wks · Baths 3–5 wks

Our long-standing trade partners work in sequence under daily owner supervision. Your private client portal shows the schedule (past and upcoming), current change orders, and up-to-date balances — and you always have a direct line to the owners.

  6. 6

    Walkthrough, punch list & warranty

    Final week

We walk the finished project together, close out every punch-list item, hand over manufacturer paperwork, and your 1-year workmanship warranty starts — with the owners a phone call away if anything ever needs attention.

Typical timelines at a glance

Project Construction time Notes

Bathroom remodel 3–5 weeks Large primary baths with custom tile and glass: 6–8 weeks
Permits (most suburbs) +1–2 weeks Pulled and managed by GS before construction starts

Every project gets a written schedule before work begins — these are the honest ranges we see across our completed projects, not best-case marketing numbers.
