Gurnee Kitchen Remodeling
GS CONSTRUCTION & REMODELING
GS Construction & Remodeling has remodeled kitchens for Gurnee homeowners since 2015. Gregory and Patryk are a father-son team with more than 40 years between them, and one of them is on your job personally.
A Gurnee kitchen usually takes 8–12 weeks, and Greg or Patryk is here for those weeks — not a project manager passing your questions along. We pull the Gurnee permits, bring in the trades we've worked with for years in the right order, and price every line of it before demo day.

Kitchen remodeling in Gurnee, IL
Kitchen remodeling in Gurnee often focuses on updating the functional heart of homes built from the late 1970s through the 1990s. Many of these properties feature original kitchens with layouts that, while practical for their time, now feel enclosed or outdated. A typical Gurnee kitchen remodel frequently involves reconfiguring the space to improve flow and natural light, often by incorporating adjacent dining areas or family rooms. We transform these kitchens by replacing worn cabinetry, countertops, and appliances with modern, energy-efficient alternatives. The goal is to create a more inviting and efficient space that reflects contemporary living while honoring the home's architectural style.
What Gurnee homeowners ask for
Gurnee homeowners frequently request open-concept kitchen designs, often involving the removal of non-load-bearing walls to merge the kitchen with a family room or dining area. Island additions are also highly sought after, providing extra prep space, seating, and storage in these evolving layouts. Smart storage solutions, like pantry pull-outs and soft-close drawers, are common requests to maximize functionality in the existing footprints.
About Gurnee
Gurnee's housing arrived in waves, with most of the village going up after Six Flags opened in 1976 and Gurnee Mills followed in 1991. Subdivisions from those decades are now at the age where original kitchens, primary baths, and unfinished basements come due.
Gurnee's housing arrived in waves. The oldest homes cluster near the historic river-town core along Grand Avenue and the Des Plaines, but most of the village went up after Six Flags opened in 1976 and Gurnee Mills followed in 1991 — the population roughly doubled in the 1990s alone. Subdivisions from those decades, like Stonebrook Estates, Providence Village, and Ravinia Woods, are at the age where original kitchens, primary baths, and unfinished basements come due. Families feed Gurnee District 56 or Woodland District 50, then Warren Township High School, with Metra a short drive away in Waukegan or Libertyville.
Homes in subdivisions like Stonebrook Estates, Providence Village, and Ravinia Woods often have original kitchen layouts that may require significant reconfigurations to achieve modern open concepts. The presence of walls between kitchens and dining or family rooms in these homes suggests opportunities for opening up spaces, which will involve structural considerations. Given the age of these properties, updating electrical and gas services will likely be a key part of the remodeling process to accommodate new appliances and layouts. Venting improvements are also common, as original systems may not meet the demands of contemporary kitchen designs. The village's clean water system, drawing from Lake Michigan via CLCJAWA and reporting no lead or galvanized lines, simplifies water supply line upgrades during kitchen remodels.
Kitchen remodels in Gurnee necessitate permits for electrical, plumbing, and any structural changes like opening up a wall. The Village of Gurnee's Building Safety Division reviews these plans and conducts inspections at various stages, all of which GS Construction & Remodeling expertly prepares for and manages.

Our project turned out better than we expected and as things were going along, we added more projects. Patryk, Greg and their team did a fantastic job. They were always so nice to work with, even suggesting things which was helpful. They never left a project until they thought it was perfect. We did a full kitchen remodel, even closing off a window to move a fridge and pantry to the other side to allow more cabinets and much needed counter space. They widen the entrance and the kitchen seems so much bigger. We think it’s Beautiful! They did laminated floors throughout the first floor, painted all walls and new baseboards. They created a wine bar which was just a cubby hole. They put in a pantry like cubby hole in our laundry room and added cabinets and above wall unit. One of the projects we had them add is new wooden stairs to the 2nd floor, white spindles and railing that curves instead of a wall and laminate floors on the 2nd floor. Other odd and ends that they never hesitated to do. We appreciate all they have done in our home, To us, it’s amazing how nice it is and how it should have been all the years we have lived here. Its exciting to show it off, it feels like a new house. These guys are amazing and would definately recommend them to anyone. Very reliable and easy to get in contact with when needed.
