Forest Lake Kitchen Remodeling
GS CONSTRUCTION & REMODELING
GS Construction & Remodeling has remodeled kitchens for Forest Lake homeowners since 2015. Gregory and Patryk are a father-son team with more than 40 years between them, and one of them is on your job personally.
A Forest Lake kitchen usually takes 8–12 weeks, and Greg or Patryk is here for those weeks — not a project manager passing your questions along. We pull the Forest Lake permits, bring in the trades we've worked with for years in the right order, and price every line of it before demo day.

Kitchen remodeling in Forest Lake, IL
Kitchen remodeling in Forest Lake reflects the unique history of its housing stock, from the compact layouts of original cottages and Cape Cods to the more expansive but sometimes dated kitchens of later raised ranches. Many projects focus on transforming these enclosed spaces into open-concept living areas, often involving the removal of walls to connect kitchens with dining and living rooms. This approach significantly brightens interiors and improves flow, a common desire for both older homes seeking modernization and newer builds looking to optimize their footprint. We frequently update original 1930s-1950s kitchens, which often feature smaller footprints and limited counter space, as well as 1960s-1980s kitchens that, while larger, may lack contemporary amenities and aesthetics. Our work adapts these varied kitchen eras to current homeowner needs, from structural modifications to complete aesthetic overhauls, enhancing both functionality and home value.
What Forest Lake homeowners ask for
Forest Lake homeowners frequently request kitchen remodels that maximize natural light and improve sightlines, especially in homes with original, smaller kitchen footprints. Integrated islands with seating are a highly sought-after feature, transforming kitchens into central gathering spaces. Upgraded appliances, including induction cooktops and built-in ovens, are also common requests, alongside pantry expansions and improved storage solutions to accommodate modern family needs.
About Forest Lake
Forest Lake's housing stock tells the story of its evolution from a vacation community to a year-round home, with cottages, Cape Cods, and raised ranches, leading to a mix of remodeling projects from opening up kitchens to whole-home renovations.
Forest Lake is one of the smallest places we work — an unincorporated pocket of Ela Township wrapped by Hawthorn Woods and Kildeer, founded in 1935 as a vacation community for Chicagoans and centered on its namesake lake. The housing tells that story: cottages and Cape Cods on lakeside streets like Park Road and Forest Drive, raised ranches from later decades, and steady teardown-and-rebuild activity since the late 1980s. Families are zoned to Lake Zurich District 95 schools, commuters drive to Metra's UP-NW line in Barrington, and the Forest Lake Community Association's parks and beaches anchor summer life.
The original cottages and Cape Cods from Forest Lake's founding in 1935 often feature compact kitchen footprints, requiring creative solutions for modern layouts. Raised ranches from later decades may offer more space but frequently need updates to their electrical and plumbing to support contemporary appliances and design. With steady teardown-and-rebuild activity since the late 1980s, these newer homes typically have more flexible kitchen layouts and updated utility services. Water supply lines installed before 1988 may contain lead, which is a critical consideration for kitchen plumbing projects. The community system purchases well water, impacting water pressure and filtration needs in some kitchen designs.
Kitchen remodeling in Forest Lake necessitates Lake County inspections for electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work, particularly when relocating fixtures or modifying gas lines. Any structural changes, such as removing load-bearing walls, also trigger a separate structural review and inspection. GS Construction & Remodeling manages all permit applications and coordinates the required inspections with Lake County officials.

Our project turned out better than we expected and as things were going along, we added more projects. Patryk, Greg and their team did a fantastic job. They were always so nice to work with, even suggesting things which was helpful. They never left a project until they thought it was perfect. We did a full kitchen remodel, even closing off a window to move a fridge and pantry to the other side to allow more cabinets and much needed counter space. They widen the entrance and the kitchen seems so much bigger. We think it’s Beautiful! They did laminated floors throughout the first floor, painted all walls and new baseboards. They created a wine bar which was just a cubby hole. They put in a pantry like cubby hole in our laundry room and added cabinets and above wall unit. One of the projects we had them add is new wooden stairs to the 2nd floor, white spindles and railing that curves instead of a wall and laminate floors on the 2nd floor. Other odd and ends that they never hesitated to do. We appreciate all they have done in our home, To us, it’s amazing how nice it is and how it should have been all the years we have lived here. Its exciting to show it off, it feels like a new house. These guys are amazing and would definately recommend them to anyone. Very reliable and easy to get in contact with when needed.
