The City of Des Plaines requires building permits for remodeling, additions, repairs, and demolition, issued through the Community and Economic Development Department's Building Division. Contractors must be licensed, bonded, and insured with the City before a permit can be issued. If a basement project adds flood-control measures such as an overhead sewer or backwater valve, the City's Flood Rebate Program can reimburse 30 percent of eligible costs up to $2,000. GS Construction manages the full permit process — application, plan review, and inspection scheduling — as part of every Des Plaines project.
