Historic Kitchen Renovation

When we took on this historic kitchen renovation in Arlington Heights, IL, our goal was to preserve the space's classic charm while building in the modern functionality a working kitchen needs. We installed custom white shaker-style cabinetry throughout, with the practical details that make a kitchen work day to day: a built-in Bosch microwave integrated into the cabinet run, and smart vertical storage that keeps sheet pans organized and easy to reach. Just off the main workspace, a custom gray pantry with open shelving provides stylish storage for cookbooks, glass jars, and a KitchenAid mixer. For the surfaces, we ran luxurious marble countertops across the entire perimeter and over a large kitchen island with seating, where a farmhouse sink keeps cleanup close to the action. A unique scalloped tile backsplash brings texture and character to the walls, while a mirrored backsplash adds depth and reflects light back into the room. Overhead, two brass-finished pendant lights illuminate the island and give the space a warm focal point. It's a combination of finishes that feels right at home in a historic property — timeless materials, thoughtfully detailed. We completed the project with stainless steel appliances, including a built-in Miele coffee maker and a French door refrigerator, then finished the room with beautiful hardwood flooring underfoot.
